When I was twenty-eight years (back in 1980), I decided to quit drinking after being "sick and tired" of being "sick and tired". I joined a twelve step recovery group and have stayed sober ever since, one day at a time. My daughter, Lisa, was also in recovery and sober for three years at the age of seventeen. Sadly, the disease of addiction claimed her life when she turned twenty-one. I decided to write this book to honor her memory and more importantly, to allow readers an insight into this devastating disease. I offer practical suggestions based on my experience, strength and hope. Lisa helped many people in recovery while sober. She is still doing that today by sharing her story of triumph and tragedy. |
