We have been working with Samantha-Hope Atkins, founder of HopeNetworks.org and WeRecover.org, to initiate the "Lisa Laws" and to present them to legislators in our nation's Capitol. Samantha has authored the "Lisa Laws", in memory of Lisa, and we are combining efforts with her to propose these laws within the year. We are proposing legislation to make it mandatory to provide warning labels on alcohol which identify the risks involved to families that are genetically pre-disposed to alcoholism. The current warning, "Drink Responsibly" is inadequate and sends the wrong message especially to those who are in recovery and those pre-disposed to addiction. The current warning labels do not also address other risk factors such as cancer or alcohol poisoning. The "Lisa Laws" will specifically address these health and safety concerns. It took decades for the tobacco companies to post a warning on their product. Why should alcohol companies be excluded? Alcohol products pose inumerable health and safety risks. 100,000 people a year die from alcohol-related deaths -- the most abused drug in this country. We need your support for the passage of the "Lisa Laws". Please visit the website at www.werecover.org and sign the petition in favor of these important laws. This petition will be presented to the lawmakers in Washington DC and your names are needed to make the changes. Thank you for your support.
